Will lighting my cymbals on fire damage them?

Where do I begin? I am a welder with 13 years experience. You will not get a flame strong enough enough to hurt your cymbals IN MOST CASES. It depends on the fuel you use, and the amount of time the heat is on the cymbal. I would never ever use something like MAPP for fuel but alcohol should be okay. Now here is the issue Legally you would be held liable for any damage done to the stage or to any persons equipment. God forbid if the extinguisher should not be reached in time. Lets not forget what happened to Great White a few years ago. Fire is unpredictable at best and things can get real real real quick. Would I do it? Heck no.
