what kind of bit?

for all of you who build your own drums, what kind of drill bit do you use to drill holes for lugs and strainers and such?

also, do the trick and ego strainers have the same hole measurements? I plan on building a snare and would like to use the ego but if it doesn't live up to standards then I will get a trick.

use a brad tip drill bit or a unibit. the mounting holes on the trick are 7/8 on the throw an 1" on the butt. I don't know about the ego.

wouldn't a unibit give me a tapered hole though?

yes it may but correct me if I'm wrong but mos t hardware requires a 1/4 inch bit however they are some times a 64th over so some work with a rat tail file or some 150 on a dowel is in order to get lugs to fit properly. so to have the hole counter sunk a bit would alleviate the need for all that
