Suspension mounts on my Forums...

I recentely ordered a 5pc. (plus a 10" rack tom) Pearl Forum kit off the web. I will using this kit as a practice/gigging "workhorse" kit. I have a set of Pearl I.S.S tom mounts that I bought off a friend for like next to nada. My question is, how will it effect the sound of the drums once I remove the mounting brackets from the toms and expose rather large holes in the shells? Is this something that needs to be covered? What can I use to do this? I want it to look as good as possible. Any suggestions? Anyone else out there think that Forums can sound great? Anyone have pics of Black carbon? please post them! One gripe about the Forum's though..
I ordered my 5pc. in the Black carbon wrap. Why aren't the add on toms available in this color??? I had to order my 10" tom in jet black. I hope it doesn't look silly. Anyway I love my Pearl drums!
I also own a 6pc. Masters BRX studio in platinum mist. Peace.

I used a forum standard set and I think it can sound OK. Pearl makes special parts for masking the holes when you remove the regular tom mounting.
Here is the BBC-1 Bass drum masking plate:

Here is the GK-90 Tom masking plate :

Hope this helps :)

I owned a Forum kit and when I tried ISS on them I didn't notice much change... IMHO it's better to buy good batter and reso heads instead of buying ISS

:D Thanks dude. Yeah, tuning and head selection. I won't say the Forums are the best sounding drums in the world but bang for the buck!?!? Besides, my BRX's would be PISSED!

 Yeah, head selection and TUNING are definately key. As I stated, I paid next to nothing for the I.S.S. so I figured, what the hell.

sure, but mind you that GK-90 doesn't fit Forum too well (only one screw instead of three) because it's designed to fit after a BT-3 tom bracket and Forum uses different brackets (I don't remember the exact name)

Yeah, Forums use different floor tom brackets, just different everything. My floor tom brackets broke after 2 years of not-so-extreme usage and The regular Pearl brackets couldn't fit(they were bigger). I had to drill holes to get them to fit to the drum.

some time ago I noticed the same thing happening with my 14x14 FT leg brackets :(
I heard that it happens with every FX floor tom :?

I wouldn't even bother with new brackets for a practice kit. I would just beat the piss out of that kit and use the master's for gigging!
