Stagg Cymbals

Staggs are probably one of the best beginner cymbals you can get. They're cheap and seriously, they are VERY durable. I don't play any metal at all, but Stagg crashes would definitely be perfect for it.

The hats? Nothing special, but really decent for the price.
The ride? Cheap and decent. The sound is nice and versatile. Only it isn't very loud so it may drown between your cymbals when miced.
The spashes? Great.
China? The cheapest decent ones you can get.

Overall, get Stagg if your budget isn't big enough and don't upgrade until you can get the high-end series of the bigger brands.

PS: I'm talking about DH here.

I've only played a few Stagg cymbals but for what I've heard from them, they're very good.

Cymbals played :

16" SH China - Great response, loud, explosive
14" SH Medium Crash - Loud, pronounced, one of the best crashes I've played.
8" SH Splash - Sharp, great for accenting.

There's my 2 cents.

and the SH is there entry level stuff :)

next step up is DH (double hammered) then your looking at things like the furia range

I've heard Stagg are good but at the same time haven't played any.

My fave drum shop has actually got rid of Sabian and brought in Stagg and Turkish.

I really love stagg cymbals!
I've switch from sabian to stagg
The prices are unbelievable.
I just bought a DH 14inch China and I really like it.The best china I ever use.Better than any zildjian's and sabian's.
For those who are planning to buy any zbts or B8 cymbals,I would recommend you guys to buy stagg instead.
Stagg is the best cymbal maker, will be the next rival for zildjian and sabian.
just visit www.staggmusic.com for more info

I wouldn't mind hearing some reviews on the black metal bells.

I am probably getting one in the next few months but wouldn't mind hearing someones first hand opinion.
I have one, great bell sound.

Sounds deeper than it looks and isn't nearly as pingy and overbearing as the Zil-Bel. I have them both on my kit and they tend to work pretty well together.
Modern Drummer gave them a great review.

Once I get my hats I think the next cymbal purchase (or the one after that) will be either the black metal bell or possibly one of these Saluda prototype bells I saw in PDF...

I have the saluda 6.5 and the 7 together w/ my paiste accent 4" and 8" I have it all covered. The saludas have a beautiful ring. sometimes if I hit them together to hard and the song is soft I have to reach up and choke them but rarely.
Love Saludas v-bells

I played a Stagg bell and almost bought it but then I realized it had a pretty nice crack in the middle oddly enough it didn't go all the way threw the cymbal and it was brand new!

are you sure it was a crack? i have mistaken a deep tonal groove for a crack

I always try to tell young drummers " Newbies" or guys who are budget constrained to consider both Stagg and Wuhan Cymbals instead of the dreadful entry level B8 cymbals offered by the big 3. Both brands are far superior to the entry level junk the big guys offer. With brands like Stagg and Wuhan why would anyone even consider playing Zbt's, B8's and the like. It makes no scence to me.

i definitely wouldnt put paiste in the b8 mess. their entry level b8s are closer to pro than anyone else. alphas particularly, pst5s arent bad at all either. $200 for a pair of alpha soundedge hihats will beat out any stagg or wuhan both in quality and how long they last. not to mention alpha soundedges are absolute pro sounding/quality cymbals. check out their website for sound samples, and the sound samples are pretty close to exactly what they sound like. paiste prides themselves on consistency. something zildjian and sabian do not, which can be good in some cases i'll admit

I used to have a 16" stagg crash when i just started out. It sounded like a car crash everytime i hitted the damn thing.

Seriously, it could have been on a GG Allin album. Totally happy with my Amedia's (hand hammered turkish cymbals) now so i can laugh about it, although it was a waste of 30 euro's.
