snare drum resonant heads

I hear alot of people putting different resonant heads on theyre snare drums. but a snare side head is so much thinner than a regular resonant head. i'v never tried anything except heads that were made to be put on the bottom of a snare drum. does putting a regular rosonant head on your snare drum really give you a good sound?

To the contrary- putting standard batter or resonant on a snare instead of a snare side head will kill your drum's sensitivity and snare response. A typical single ply drum head is about 10 mm; a standard snare side head is only 2 or 3 mm. If you put a 10 mm hed on your snare side you might as well throw a Hyrdaulic on the batter becazuse you're snare will sound like a cardboard box.
