Hey everyone!
Well heres what I got.
I have a wine red Pearl Export series 5pc drumkit.
I am looking to expand by adding a second bass drum for double bass, and also a second floor tom.
Problem is, I have no idea how to find a bass drum to match what I have.
Musicians friend has a Pearl Export Bass drum, but it looks different because my
drums have the long tube connecting between the top and bottom lugs. It looks as if maybe I can
take the tubes out though, i'm not sure if thats somthing i should do or not so it will match the new drum.
Also, if i buy the bass drum from musicians friend, whats the chance i will be able to get the two drums to
sound close enough together for double bass?

And for the floor tom, i currently have i think a 16" floor tom, to add a second size what would it be?
I guess 18"?

here are some pics i have of my drums, sorry theyre not the best, i took these about a year ago.
If any of you have a clue of what i should do, please let me know!!!

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l43/cgaffka/tom1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>

and the link for the bass drum on musicians friend is..

Please let me know what you think.
Thank you so much!!!

me, personally, would get the 14" floor... you can tune that 16" pretty deep, especially with the right head on it.
I already have a 7pc pearl export, but have the 8" and 10".... well, I dont use my 8" at the mo cos I dont have room :p and it scares my pupils when they see it on the kit lol

but yea, I'm wanting to eventually get another floor, but would go for a 14"...

As for the BD, you could try find a 2nd hand one which is a bit closer in look as yours.... but the chances of tuning a newer one to your old one the same would be high if you use the same heads of course....

How about getting a splash cym? or china for effects etc? cowbell/woodblock? depends what styles/sounds you're into I guess.... :)

Hope this helps anyway, I'm sure others will have their opinions as well!

Take a ride down to Orlando.... talk to Mike at Guitar Center & also check both Sam Ash stores. I've seen lots of those kits in that color & style around in those places lately & some wicked deals.
If nothing else they can order up the kick & toms for you. Plus they'll beat MF's price.

i dont like Double bass pedals either, one side is always uneven, unless you buy a $700 pedal
Exactly, and why buy a really expensive double bass pedal when you can buy a whole second bass drum for the same price..

I think I may have found my bass drum, guy from Guitar Center is going to let me know.
Thanks for the help everyone.

I'm not sure if they're making em with the hi-tension lugs these days (most have the "masters style" lugs)
You may have a hard time finding em new... but the used kits I've seen are in very good shape
I've seen full 5 piece kits for as low as $250 out the door... bout half the cost of picking up a new kick & floor

I had the same Problem when i wanted to Add on another
bass drum to my kit. I asked a guy at the guitar center
if they made the bass durm i was looking for but PDP had
just stoped making them so i traded in my old set and got
one of the new PDP drum sets.

Pearl's usually pretty good about that... they'll make ya just about anything. But it'll cost ya & ya may have to wait a looooong time to get it.
I had that problem w/ Tama's

Thats an Export from around 2000 you got there good luck finding a new bass drum or any drum for it. Check Cragislist and Ebay is all I can suggest.

Wow, really 2000?
I was way off... I saw another post on a different form of a drum set a little bit like mine but it was from the late 80's.
It was different but not a whole lot. Well knowing it's from around 2000 should make that a lot easier.
Thank you so much!

I have a similar, but perhaps bigger problem.

I have a WHITE pearl export from the mid 90s. I want to get a floor tom and bass drum as well, but unfortunately Pearl no longer makes white drum sets from the Export series. Anyone knows how I can remedy this? I can't find any second hand ones anywhere either...

dose it have ISS mounts or is the mounts drilled into the shell? If its the last one then you are mostlikley correct and It will be impossible to find new drums for it.
