hi, just though you might like to see my old pearl export set that i recentently recovered in red fur!
the drums were all scratched and battered a ive had them about 15 years now so i stripped them down, polished all the hoops, filled holes, and removed the middle sections of the lugs and recovered and rebuilt them to what you see in the pictures.!
they turned out pretty good to be honest and i now have new found respect for my old/spare/practice drums!
what do you think?

That is tight. I dig that fur man. And for that cheap! I would use that as my gig set not practice. It is sexy. Looks brand new

Looks like a kit made for ANIMAAAL! :p

I just went out and bought a load of undercoat and paint etc to re paint my old Export... now I wish I'd gone for fur! :-(

looks pretty sweet, but does the fur wrap affect the sound at all?
it does affect the sound very slightly but i think they sound better! there is less overtones and ring than before so no more moongel etc! they sound a bit deeper too and maybe a little quieter but apart from that- all is good! glad everybody seems to like them. (and please remember these drums are 15 yr old pearl exports)

do you recover sets often because that looks pretty pro.
thanks, its the first one i have done! i work as a joiner/ carpenter so im pretty good with stuff like that etc. i would do it again though and im thinking of doing up a couple of old snare drums too. the trick is to join the fabric under a lug so it cant be seen to easily and make sure you keep the fabric tight as you wrap it round but apart from that its just patience! i also ended up with bits of red fur all over my house for a few days!!! lol

I think chrome ones would look killer on that one man. Though the black ones aren't too bad either. Don't get blank wooden ones, i guess, that might look lame:p
