Can anybody give me some info? ive read all about them etc but would like to know if any of you own or have owned one in the past? and what are your views?

i havent got it yet, but should have it by monday/tuesday. ive been looking for one for nearly a year now but the prices have been sky high and ive been waiting for a good one to come along, and now my wait is over!

will post pics as soon as possible!

thanks in advance!

be careful with the snare strainer, they're easy to damage. get a case for this reason. they're the same as a supraphonic, with the exception of the snare strainer. good drum, one of my faves.

yea, its got the guards that wrap around each end of the strainer but im gonna make a custom case for it before i take it out anyway. wouldnt dream of transporting it without one!

those guards can get bent, and when they do they throw the whole snare assembly out of line. I really like the way drums with extended snares sound tho, you can keep them looser and they seem to vibrate sympathetically less.

The SS is a great drum, but like Alan said, the strainer can be an issue. Another issue to think about is that since the SS strainer is so large, a standard 14" case might not fit it and you'll have to go up a size to accomodate the strainer. Make sure the case fits your drum before you buy the case. Protechtor makes a square snare case that will fit it.

What do those Super Sensitive throw offs look like anyway?

And is the P-86 and the Super Sensitive the same thing?

And yes, it sounds great!

just a slight bit of pitting on the top hoop and a little on one of the strainer arms. hardly a mark on the shell itself though.

thanks guys, it sounds great by the way, and at the weekend, i will be putting new heads on it as the ones on it now are dead.
im still experimenting with the tuning as i cant seem to make my mind up but it sounds great high or low. at the minute its kind of a bonham (ish) sound.

also, does anyone know where i can get new snare wires for it? the ones on it are original and in great condition but i have never seen a set for a super sensitive before!?! and ive seen some on another identical drum where all the wires are individually tensioned!?!. it would be nice to have a spare set, just incase!!!
