My drums are orange sparkle, and I think its kinda fruity. as the title says "I need to brutalize my drumset". the finish is a laquer(maybe) and I don't think I'm monetarily or physicaly capable to rewrap it myself or send to a place right now. so I thought maybe I could paint the lugs, tension rods, hoops, and all the other on-drum hardware black. I know that I can't just use any old paint to do this, I have to powder coat them...............................how do i do that? can I just go into a hardware store like home depot or menards have them do this for me?

i would just sand back/unwrap the drums and paint the mat black, it looks poor after a while, but mean as hell! A lot of drifters do that to their track cars cause it makes them look evil+makes the colours of their panels match.

Oh God this isnt some kind of round badge gretsch kit from the 50s? or 3 ply Luddies from the 60's? or heavens, Rogers with a matching wood Dynasonic?

Please tell us you are not contemplating something so vile.

Anyway, what kind of drums are these?

You shouldnt let your drums intimidate your masculinity.

Its a rogers with a matching wood dynasonic that's a doublebass set. 2 26" bass drums, 12" tom, and a 16" floor tom.

just kidding, its a pdp x7 with a orange sparkle lacquer. I just want a change from the ordinary.

Orange Sparkle lacquer isnt going to be an easy project. You will have to chemically strip the lacquer finish down to the raw wood. Clean sand the shells, and then rewrap in your color of choice, or refinish in your stain of choice. Depending on how PDP does their color process, you might have residual orange stain that will not fade out or stain over. Good luck.

That takes to much effort for something that is not necisary. tho I was just talking about painting the lugs and hoops.

Cost depends on how many units you have powdercoated. It's not a difficult process. I have a powder coating system i just don't have an oven.
