i just got my first drum kit recently, a ludwig beginner set sort of thing
3 toms 1 cymbal bass snare and hi hat, single peddle

the peddle is sort of scratching the bass and making an indent in the middle
how should i position it or what should i put on my peddle to stop damage?

ive heard of bass protector pads, but i want to know if there is anything at home to use first

what part of the pedal are you talking about? are you talking about the beater denting the head when it hits it. or is the chain scratching the head?

theres a length of a metal stick attached to the beater, it scratchs the head and its quite noticable(the metal stick part makes a scratch line and i think after a while itll pop through

edit:spelling

I know this may be the dumbest question
Are you clamping the pedal down firmly on the rim?
If not, that thing is going to move forward a lot
Plus, the pedal will play like poop

If it's sticking out you can always undo the bolt holding the beater, with your drum key, and lift the beater up.

Yeah, your beater's too low. It should be hitting right in the middle of the head.
