Hanus and Hert snare drums

Is anybody familiar with the chzech (snare) drum producer Hanus and Hert?

I've read quite a lot about them, but have unfortunately yet to try one of their hand made snare drums.

They don't make their drums from plywood, but from vertical blocks of solid wood. Also, they make wooden hoops. Their wood matertial is exotic trees like; Jarrah, Merbau, Padouk, Palisander, plus trees like Cherry, and "ordinary" sorts like Maple and Oak.

Their drums are quite expencive, so my question to anyone that may have tried them, or even owe one, will be:

Are they worth this kind of money?

(From US $790 - $ 990...)

They look very good I think, and they sound very interesting too.
For more information, chzeck out ( ) this webpage:

Those are some great looking drums, I'd love to try one out. It looks like they use the same kind of lug design as Ayotte, which was one aspect of their sets I really liked.

I don't think they make drums on a big scale, and they don't seem too eager on the commercial side of their business either, so that may be why you haven't come across them before, despite living in Poland.

Anyway, you know about them now! :D
