I've never EVER had a problem with Gatorade. I don't know where you're getting your info, and maybe it applies to some people, but I can tell when I'm dehydrated, and Gatorade has never done it. Depends on your entire physiology, and not everyone is the same. Different strokes for different folks.TrunJun":tcqt3qxa said:By the way, gatorade is a big NO NO. Because of the contents of those sports drinks, you can actually dehydrate yourself more than you hydrate. Water is VERY important, and ONLY WATER. Dont drink anything else except filtered, clean, crisp, great tasting h2o!
Seriously, water is where its at. Get yourself a three liter canteen and haul it with you EVERYWHERE.
Best one yet! :lol:iamwhatiam":2wlbk9qf said:here my pre gig warm up.
first of all smoke no more than a couple of spliffs.
then drink 2 pints.
essentially pull all the way along my arms and calfs. putting a fair bit of pressure with the thumb. (i was taught this by some chi loving guy)
then just a general stretch of everything. and then buy the third pint.
You're gonna sit here and tell me that Gatorade, a drink with sugars and electrolytes, is bad for me and not to drink it when I KNOW for a fact it doesn't do anything bad to me, meanwhile you drink whisky (contains ALCOHOL) and balance it out with water ???, and then drink Redbull, which contains about 5 teaspoons of sugar and 80 mg of caffiene (a stimulant), a drug that messes with your pharmacology, especially when you have it combating a depressant (remember that ALCOHOL you drank?) which is bad, mmmmk? Especially when they had been considering taking Red Bull off of the market because of what's happened to people that drink it with Vodka??TrunJun":1l7owe4p said:trust me man, you may not feel it, but it definetly does dehydrate you. colleges have been studying it for years and I learned this from my old AA hockey coach. Just stick to water, its way better for you anyways. If you think gatorade/powerade will help, trust me because it wont. Water is MUCH better for you. It will also make you feel better than drinking any sport drink. The only thing I drink before a show besides water (and of course whiskey, which i use water to balance out the dehydrating effects of alcohol with) is the occasional Red Bull.
Nah dude it's all good. I'm not mad. I just got a little carried away with that. I mean seriously look at what you just said about what you do. It's just a tad ridiculous don't you think?TrunJun":urmp8r2w said:im not trying to argue man, and i dont drink any more than 1-2 shots before a gig. I'm just saying, water is much much more of an effective thing for you to drink than gatorade/powerade/sports drinks. do the research man, anything with a composition like sports drinks will dehydrate you. Its just the truth man, no need to get your panties in a twist lol
I'll admit you have me curious now about the Gatorade though. Like I said, I haven't experienced anything bad, but I'm going to look into it more just to make sure. Thanks.TrunJun":3mk7rmij said:aye, i agree with you about the red bull too. when i cant get my hands on some ginseng/taurine its what i use to substitute. also, it helps just a tad bit when i go through those sleepless nights. someone should develope a drink for musicians (especially drummers) that acts as an upper but with less harmful effects. Red bull definetly sucks and i hate to use it, but hey, gotta sometimes.
