do you play another instrument WHILE drumming?

just curious if anyone has ever experimented with playing another instrument while drumming one-handed.
I've seen the drummer from Dredg do it, and I think Kenwood Dennard pretty much pioneered a style of playing keyboards with one hand and drumming with the other-

anyone out there doing anything like this?
I guess keys are about the only thing that really lends itself to this approach?
I tried it a bit last night and I think I want to pursue it some more...

On Whitehall Sessions (link below) I played a little synth sometimes while keeping simple beats with my other hand. That and some tamborine and sleigh bells, other percussion etc.

Oh and if anyone wants to see real craziness check out Scott Brannon on myspace. This guy plays the bass and drums at the same time (throws in some hammer dulcimer as well). Really amazing to watch.

I do alot of casino gigs on the "rubber drums" (Roland V-Drums) and when I'm bored that's a good time to exercise my "bilateral thinking". So....I play hat/snare/kick with my left hand/right foot and in my right hand, I play Tetris on my cell phone or Solitaire on my iPod. So far I've gotten really good at both. If I'm not doing that then I am usually carrying on a conversation with any one of the stellar waitresses that come to the drink window, just to my left. :) Kinda freaks them out that I can be playing with the band and chatting them up like it's nothing, all at the same time.

Like I've said before, Billraydrums you are cool as shit.

Can't really say that I've tried playing another instrument while playing drums, other than goofing off trying to play drums and trumpet.

Yeah, I've played kazoo on a song or two (redneck mother, during the "M is for the mudflaps ya gimme for ma pickup truck" breakdown part comes to mind).

I also sing backup on most of our songs.

We do a cover of Red By King Crimson and I play keyboards on it, it's during the section when there is no Drums. So no multitasking points for me

nice! We do a couple Crimson tunes too- always seems to be a crowd-pleaser.

So, do you have keys near your kit, or do you have to move to the keyboard station?

i was in an industrial/EBM band where i had a small synthesizer set up next to my hi-hat. i used it for instrumental breaks where only bass drum and snare were needed.

when i had one arm in a cast on new year's eve i played a trombone with a one handed ska beat.
i was pretty drunk, but i think it sounded great.

Yeah,
I play in the UK's foremost ELP tribute band 'Noddys Puncture' and have incorporated keyboard lines from ELP's 'Toccatta' into my solo. It seems to work (I have now learnt the lines properly!) and goes down a treat at shows. A nice little addition although you really have to be confident when playing the 2 instruments in a live situation. Always loved keys anyway, there is a film of the solo on my Myspace page.
Cheers,
Steve.

ive started playing a theremin while playing the kit...
so far it just sounds weird and its hard as hell trying to control the theremin whilst drumming
but im still just experementing i wont consider it "playing another instrument" yet...

if u dont know what a theremin is search it on youtube. its a killer instrument.
