I like the layout- is it a tad 'mangini-esque,' or is that just a coincidence?

Nice!

Wow, that's an interesting kit! I'm lovin' your rack and the setup! Are all your cymbals sabians?

Actually the Mike Mangini-ness to it is quite a coincidence. I actually set it up thinking it to be as unique as I could get it and aiming more toward a lesser Terry Bozzio thang. haha Much less haha

I actually use Mostly Sabian (love the Rocktagons) but I also use Paiste for my rides and there are some Zildjians throughout the kit. I generally go for sound more than anyone brand.

Thanks for commenting I will try to check out your kits later today.

how can you have so much distance between your snare and your toms?!?! each to there own i suppose, nice looking kit tho dude, rocktagons are awesome

The Snare is by Peavey, it is extremely cool. I put the Export snare to the left side of the kit and use it as a distant sounding marching snare. The Peavey snare is incredible. Other than Pearl, I could be purseuded to someday play all Peavey.

The distance was never really a problem for me, I always just had to move a little faster, to speed run. I have however been modifying the kit and should have a new picture up soon. This is the touring kit I used this summer with EUODIA. Like I said I was going for uniqueness and did have some practicality issues to deal with, mainly keeping the cage together and the cymbals from spinning when hitting them. My tech (T.J.)was constantly climbing on stage to fix em during shows. We spent this past month tweaking it out and have one more show for the season (wife and I are gonna enjoy some down time to have our first baby) I will try to snap some shots of the reworked kit at that show and get em up asap with an explaination of the tweaks.

Oh and the reach again has never been a problem also due to me being 6'2" , and using Bobby Rock series 17-1/2" Japanese Oak Pro-Marks, yup I can even reach the Zildjian Impulse China Boy from my seat. :)

awesome kits on here, im 6ft 7, not many people would be able to play my kit soley because im 90% leg so my pedals are quite far apart and my whole kit is pretty high, i like a nice high snare for my rim shots, once my rack arrives ill post a pic of my brand new Premier Artist series kit, getting a bit tetchy cos ive had pretty much all my kit for about a month but i need my rack!! which the drum shop are really taking the piss in delivering lol

MY SET IS DEFINATELY BETTER!!
Ok, maybe not. Dude man I saw that and it almost made me want to stop playing. "Why bother with my set which I thought was tit, when there is something like THAT out there." HAHAHAHA. Nah nah dude, That set is bomb though. How long did it take for you to get everything? or did you just return a lot of cans and bottles and payed all at once? Not to mention, how much did that monster cost??

Hahaha thanks Robo,

I have another kit called "BIG RED" that one cost me somewhere near 2G's but that was built over like 8 years, starting from a small five peice pearl export. It was my road and studio kit for years.

The "Purple Cathedral" (PC for short) was built in alot shorter time. It is the brain child of my drum tech T.J. (yes the wife thanks him sarcastically for that...;)

He purchased the whole of the kit abotu a year ago, then discovered it to be a bit much to store and handle lugging around his small apt., so he decided to stick with his very cool lime green kit (which is growing as "Big Red" did, slowly over time) Last time I saw "Slimer" it was actually beginning to look a little better than mine haha. Anywho I took the Purple Dragon off his hands for a decent amount of $$ and ...well....a life time of free drum lessons, tours, limo rides, etc etc. haha

Anyway, once we started building the lower half of the cage we decided to go for a weird (Bozzio) type look, though playing Christian Rock, we also decided to tone it down to something presentable as well. Thus the "Cathedral" was erected, to house the Purple Beast. The ultimate fine tunign of the placement of toms and cymbals came this past summer on our mini tour with EUODIA. Thats when we started to re-distribute the toms to a more functional setup (For now). We are re-evaluating the tome placement now that I am completely feeling comfortable in the Cathedral. I really enjoyed the mirror type aspect of the original setup pictured above, so by this summer/fall tour we shoudl have it back to that with a few Cathedral Adjustments.

Oh and if this kit isn't crazy enough, we have the plans worked out to mount a laser show on the pipes and light it all up with a full smoke show. I will post the pics once we start burning the incense in the Cathedral. Oh and yup we already have plans on welding in some Actual stained glass peices to enhance the look and lighting capabilities.

Thanks for showing interest, oh and to be honest I myself love to break it all down and go au natural, with just a five - six peice kit with floor stands, from time to time. It really allows me the best of both worlds.

Absolute truth be told, I would still be playing on "Big Red" tot his day, if it were not for God gracing me with the means for this kit.

I am Truly blessed.

Thanks again.

The one drummer's kit that this reminds me of (in a good way of course) is Flo Mounier of Cryptopsy. I know he also used the curved racks vertically to hold cymbals. I've always been a fan of outrageous set-ups like that so your set is definitely kickass in my mind. I doubt I'd ever have the patience to figure out how to do it but props to you, man.
