(Please excuse the dodgy drawing thing. Photobucket is having a maintenance and I can't upload a photo at the moment. I'll put a photo up soon when it gets back up.)

Argh... Well that little drawning didn't work. anyway, I mean like this \/ \/ \/

See how the China is like... tilted. Why do people do that? Does it give a better sound or what?

doesnt really change the sound, maybe they think its easier to hit, or they like the way it looks.

It's all personal preference. It is easy to hit with the tip of the stick that way for riding purposes, and you can explore all the areas of the cymbal much easier than with it horizontal.

On the same tip, I wonder why almost every drummer I see in a newer rock band nowadays has his China horizontal.

I have mine horizontal.
I just play it like that because it feels better when the shaft hits the rounded part. thats just for me
And I;m a metal, not rock.
But... I can also ride with it so... I find it better.
