Joey (i'm sorry) definitely is NOT. If i had to narrow it down.... Derek Roddy for his achievement of creativeness, George Kollias for his astounding speed and consistancy, John Longstreth for the same and having a different style and blasting really really high and loud. Theres always the legends like Dave Lombardo and the dude from Cannibal Corpse (excuse the name slipping me).

i dont know dude i personally just think its up to the genre of metal and even then i think its hard to pick just one
That's what I love about metal so much - there's as many genres of metal as there are styles of music, and even more ways to play within each genre. I hate these discussions because they are seldom reasoned and objective.

Instead of arguing about who's the best, try on some fresh new jams:

Who do you think it the best metal drummer. I think its Joey Jordison and Traivs smith.
you need to listen to less mainstreme metal. it depends on the style but i can think of many drummers who blow them two out of the water. all i have ever seen joey do which was slightly impressive was a blast beat n some quads.

i will have to say aquiles priester is my favourite metal drummer, unfortunately there is no video in existance which truly shows what he is made of but he is blindingly fast.

Dave Lombardo.

Hell yeah! haha. He may not be the most technical, but I like him for his style, and the feeling he puts into his music. First time I heard Slayer I fell in love with Dave's playing, and got the still reigning DVD not too long after that and he just puts alot of feeling into it.

Other than that, I'd have to say Derek Roddy, but no one will EVER agree on a "best drummer" for any category.

Let's not forget Gene Hoglan, Sean Reinert, Richard Cristy, or Paul Bostaph.
THANK YOU..

and thats the reason why Death is my favorite band... because 3 out of the 4 drummers you just listed were Death :p

and I love Mike Portnoy, Martin Lopez, Bobby Jarzombek, Derek Roddy, Jason Rullo, Thomas Corn, Hellhammer, Marco Minneman, Pete Sandoval, and Aquiles Priester on top of that. But many others as well.
