Quick aside- IF you are in a band on tour, TAKE THE STICKERS OFF YOUR TRAILER that make you resemble a musician. Put on plumbing stickers, Landscape signage, etc....whatever. You are a FOOL if you have "Zildjian" or "Kramer" stickers all over your trailer. Might as well put a sign on that says "STEAL ME". See kids, thieves are out to screw you up HARD. Don't be the next ones!!!

Hey guys... I'm reposting this for a friend. A touring band visiting Sac got their gear ripped off last week. SUCKS. Please pass this around.
Peace & Love,
BR
-------------------------------
Last Thursday night Aranda from Oklahoma City played at Old Ironsides. They were great guys who put on a great show. They played in front of a smallish crowd, made about $50 and were grateful for even that small amount!

But before they left town the next morning, they discovered all of their gear had been stolen, thus ending their tour before they were even half way through it and sending them home with all of their instruments gone.

Please look over this very extensive list of what was stolen and keep an eye out for it.

If anyone has any information about any of these items listed below please contact the band at http://www.myspace.com/aranda

AND PLEASE REPOST THIS MESSAGE TO AS MANY IN THE MUSIC COMMUNITY AS YOU CAN!!!

Thanks you,

wow, they had some nice gear~ hope they recover it.

Great advice about not identifying your trailer. It seems like good PR, but it's definitely an advertisement for getting hit.

There was a previous thread about this but the sticker thing is right on
Although it doesn't directly relate to the topic, there are some tips that a former DEA agent was giving on his DVD reagarding how to avoid being hassled by the cops
He says that, other than the obvious signs like the inhabitants themselves, the one thing that identifies the contents of a vehicle is a sticker
If a cop comes up behind a vehicle with band and musical equipment stickers on it, chances are that there is some form of contraband in the car
Likewise with thieves

The less conspicuous, the better chance of avoiding getting ripped off

I know exactly how you feel. I'd do the same. I work hard for the stuff I have. And for somebody to just take it without paying for it makes all the time spent saving up for it worthless. I think I'd be inconsolable for about a month...

And these guys are from my town and I believe that Mike Walker was playing the drums from the list you gave. Yes, remove anything that identifies your vehicle as having band gear in it - even if it is the personalized license plate. Someone stole mine and I was grateful that that was all that they took!

That so sucks. What kind of a low life would do that. I can't imagine that the thiefs even play them selves, cus if they did, they would realize how much attachment players have to their gear. Hope these guys see someone playing their gear so justice can be served.

Aw man that's terrible - there are some really scum bags out there - I hope they keep things going with the band cos their stuff sounds awesome!

Any chance of recovering their gear?

Yeah, but hopefully the people who stole it will be making better music

Fuck, I'd be screwed if my gear got stolen, I wouldn't be able to replace it all for years! That sucks, whoever stole it needs their nuts seperated from the rest of them.

Most bands don't get their gear back. Matter of fact, a drummer buddy of mine had his kit stolen, filed a police report, everything. He did what he had to do.

Eventually his drums came up for sale on Craigslist and he called the police and said he'd located his gear. The police said that there was nothing they could do and that he would be better off buying back the property from the thief.

Had it been me, I would have told the cops that at least one murder was about to take place and they should meet me at such-and-such address to prevent it.

And they wonder why I don't trust authority.
