Hey everyone,
I've only been reading these posts for about a week now. Sounds like there are a lot of experienced drummers here with many different styles and one thing in common..a love of drumming.
On this thread, many good names coming up..but how can you not list Bill Bruford? I'm a guitarist/drummer. I started playing late in life and right now i'm not able to play drums at all due to surgeries on my feet, but I still love them and wish I could get behind my kit and thrash.

Welcome Satori. When I saw your name I thought, "I wonder if he's named Bruford?" Satori in Tangere is a great track.

You might like to check out the January issue of Rhythm, Mike Portnoy interviews Bruford. He's one of my favourites as well. I've been lucky to have corresponded with him over the years.
I don't know what I'm talking about!

Being the classic rock lover that I am, I guess my favorite drummers would be, in no particular order

Keith Moon, John Bonham, Steve Ferrone, Mitch Mitchell, and Miles Heskett, and even Ginger Baker makes my favorites list.

Steve Smith is THE best drummer of our time! He is very well rounded and his techniques are immpressive! Id also have to give mad props to John Bonham, because is probably the godfather of the rock groove. Fuck tavis barker and joey jordison, if it werent for Bonham, they certainly wouldnt be who they are today! Marco Minnemmin is another drummer to check out! He has RIDICULOUS independence, probably the most immpressive that Ive ever seen! And to finish up, a rock band thats active right now with a good drummer is Pillar! You might not like their music, but I think Lester Estelle jr., their drummer, is really underrated! He has obviously had a background in gosple music, which you can clearly see in the harder rock music that they play! Its very intriguing! So check him out for yourself @ www.lesterdrums.com. Thats all I have to say! so make music not war and I'll see you homos later!
