I am starting a band with a few friends and the lead guitarist is financing the entire thing out of his own pocket, and I'm broke. I told him that I'd try to keep the set under $1250. This is my pick:

with these cymbals:

and a wuhan 14" and 18" chinas.

and Pro-mark 747 hickory sticks.

My question, is it worth it?

Thanks,

for a drumset, check this out. its a sweet kit by Gretsch and it had a great review in Modern drummer also. it doesnt come with stands or anything but you can pic up stands starting at like 40 bucks and pacific has double pedals for like 100 bucks.. some sweet spec about it is mahogany shells, huge 20 x 22 kick drum, offset lugs, cool wrap (not just a plain single color wrap)

Cymbals- ZBT's are ok but if your a hard hitter or are gonna play out a lot they might not hold up that great. plus they dont have the sound quality you might be looking for. escpecially the hi hats. but then again, for $220 you'll be getting the essentials.

Good luck with the new band!!!! rock on!
