I'm a female drummer and I've had to deal with a lot of idiots who thought that because I was a girl I couldn't play drums. (Not all of them were guys either!) Especially when I joined the drumline. It's cool to hear some of the guys on this forum saying some good things about us. :D

yo

i am a female drummer, i know why it get the lads hot and that cos it is so sensual and real, plus addded sweatiness hahaharrr

but we are a rare breed, mainly because it is such a commitment buying a kit. i played guitar as a young lass and it is easier to leave it by the wayside. when you have drums it's such a big thing in your house it cannot be avoided. but it is the BEST thing i ever did, buying a kit. so much life enrichment. and pure f'n joy. like dancing but with things to dance at. or summat.

i dont like my work on it anymore, but it still isn@t too shoddy considering its all our first band (more or less).

any other drumming lasses ad me and say hello. i love you all before i even met ya.

Alright... I'll come out of perpetual lurkdom.

I've played for a while and haven't run into many problems with other drummers (male or female)... it's usually non-musicians or those that play other instruments that make the idiot comments.

I hate hearing things such as "plays pretty good for a girl". You never hear, "she plays piano pretty good for a girl"... what a dumb thing to say.

The only other thing I hate is being ignored in music stores in favour of speaking to a guy that I'm with... even so far as it being me who asks questions and then the salesperson will look at the guy when answering. I take my $ and walk when that happens, no question.

Anyway, here I am if you want to stop by: http://www.myspace.com/drummergirl_chris

Yeah man I caught Sheila E with Ringo's All Star Band last year at Radio City Music Hall and she was amazing. Played a kick ass solo, and nailed her hit tune while singing and playing Timbally's. Woman rock and they look good doing it.
It's all about the groove, It's all about the feel.
Don't over play, play the song, do your part to keep it real.

Most of the drummre's on my space are female and from around the world.
They have just as mush talent and usualy less ego! Gender does'nt matter it's hard work and determination. So if your a female drummer good for you!! You have more ball's then alot of guy's who pretend to be drummer's. Besides I've never seen a woman drummer light thier drums on fire!!LOL
