I've found that having less to work with can actually make you more creative. It will make you push yourself a little harder. I played a 4 piece for the longest time. I've been itching for a balls deep floor tom, though, so i ordered an 18" when i got my new kit.

Thanks, i love them too. I've consider adding another crash, but that would just be more hardware and another cymbal, neither of which i need. And i used to rock the China, but our music just doesn't call for it.

Some recent ones at a club gig. Jazz Combo, got $150 for it. Went for new heads and bottom drum hardware to fix my crappy lugs. Have yet to put them on too, lol.

P.S. am I one of the few Traditional playing drummers? Wow, thought there were more. I can switch between both grips, and I sometimes do in a gig, just for fun.

Here are some pics of me with my current band Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dollz. it's a 3 piece band with burlesque dancers. we do about 150 shows a year on the road. we're currently endorsed by Gretsch (guitars and drums) and Jaagermeister.
