how can u tell good drum mics from bad ones

It depends if you wanna get good ones or bad ones. The mics I use are the audix i5 on snare and toms. Great mics. $100 a piece. Same as the Sure SM57, just a little meatier and more heavy duty. The kick mic is the Shure Beta52a which is a great kick mic and costs $180. Don't forget you gotta get cables and clips for your drums. I spent around $800 to mic up my kit, but the good mics are well worth it and you have them forever!

You can find relatively cheap mics out there, but that will effect your sound.
