I wont DARE say they are "bad" but...
I am disappointed in Chad Smith, Lars, and Travis....

Early stuff they did showed they had some SERIOUS chops....Now they seemingly "flub" their way through songs/shows.......

Like I said that doesnt make them "bad" because WE ALL CAN MAKE IMPROVEMENTS!!!!!! Maybe the music they play doesnt inspire them to work on chops per se anymore....
Drummers are like money.....It's better IN THE POCKET!!!!!

without the drummers who would use their drums in a war to signal differant things and use it as a way of communication and the dancers who would get hired because they had the coordination to replace a bass drum player, snare drum player and cymbals player, without people like Jim Chapin, buddy rich, max roach and the jazz giants, there would be no such thing as a rock and roll way of a drummer.

besides, what exactly is your deffinition of "the rock and roll way of a drummer?" i'd like to know exactly what your mentality is on the subject so i can better understand why someone would make such a novice comment.

whatever ur just a scronny little drumline yankee boy whos the only thing going for him is drumming

geee isnt that sad

as in u all act like drums are some kind of science stop sucking the livelyness out of it there are people on here better than others at drumming no doubt but i dont care what you say the second u start trying to hard or getting competitive over it U SUCK end of story.

your posts really dont make any sense at all. i have no idea what your trying to say, im im pretty sure no body will care

So YOUR opinions are the only truths?

this is getting a little outta hand. we can get all the people that post bull crap to stop so this can be a discussion rather than an argument.

I agree completely, just let this thread die.

I think that one of the things that sets drummers from the rest of the musicians (Guitarists, Bassists, Pianists, etc) is that we have serious comradory. This is just one of those topics that breaks that comrodory...

I wish that drummers that were actually talented and knew what they were doing, as in being a true musician and not just some drummer who is famous just because he is in a more famous group, got more attention. For example, im almost possitive that every one has heard of ...lets say.. Neil Peart or Cahd Smith. But have you ever heard of some one like Bill Stewart? More than likely not. Bill Stewart has got more control over his limbs then probably any other drummer today. But he doesnt get recognized. More of the reason being he is a Jazz muscian. I just wish that props were given to the right people. And by the way im not harping on Neil Peart he is an amazing drummer and innovative.

agree, the fact is that the media advertises the crap out of the band because it the "in sound". example, when was the last time you were watching music videos on your magical satilite tv and saw chick corea, or tower of power, or the dave weckl band? you dont becasue they're to busy playing cartel and fall out boy and panic at the disco and all american rejects. not im not saying these bands suck, but just because its whats selling right now makes the drummers in these bands look like current day icons/

I object to those saying Lars sucks. He may not be flashy, but he's solid and creative. Bob Rock made him "suck". Especially with drum sounds on the last album. I dont see how that happened, because the Black Album's production is great!! The drums are kickin on that cd.
So don't blame the man, blame Bob Rock.
His attitude and whatnot, I never really minded and I dont care.
Oh yeah, and the whole Napster thing was not an act of greed, like many people perceive it as. The whole thing was somebody, somehow got ahold of some unreleased studio stuff that wasnt finished, by Metallica, stuff that was not meant to get out, and wasnt supposed to get out, and started spreading it all over Napster. That's basically felony theft and copyright infringement.
I'd be pretty pissed if somebody stole shit that I was working on and spread all over the internet, making a false perception of me and the music.

if money is the only thing you can think of that makes someone good at what theyre doing then you shouldnt be behind a musical instrument period. i cant beleive you just said that its really sad some of the best musicians i have heard are nobodies playing on the street n they were plain obviously better than most of these musicians on mtv there was no denying it. n you think fame and money makes someone good at a musical instrument well like i said you dont deserve to be behind a musical instrument

this is a very negative thread, but I can see why cockiness can seemingly ruin the skill factor, but as a drummer your self, you must look beyond that and look through their eyes for once. instead of just dissin' drummers, who are loved throught the world.

i wont comment on people who i think suck, there are many

to be honest mostly just people that only just picked up sticks to play indie or the likes, and dont really bother to learn anything new

i would create a whole category of people who suck, by making a list of people that dont integrate new elements to their playin

for example, if somebody plays basic beats in songs (in general this theory only works for metal) and they do the same type of thing constantly, then i would say that they suck, but what they do is down to the ENTIRE band sound as a whole

anyway, the only people i would say suck to their face would be those who are not willing to learn different styles of music, it doesnt matter if you dont play that style, but you can use other styles for extra technicques etc

and i guess in some way, everybody sucks

you could be the best there is at metal, but know nothing of other styles, meaning you suck (like me, but im nowhere near best obviously)

and the same goes with other styles, except true jazz musicians, who appear to be able to do almost anything, then us metallers try to steal their techniques
