A lot of people have mentioned Danny Carey. He's by far my favortie drummer. I've seen about a half-a-dozen Tool shows, and actually met Danny Carey and Carl Palmer at a clinic they did together. Carl Palmer is awesome, too. I've seen Neil Peart with Rush, Mike Portnoy with Dream Theatre and other great drummers as well. I really think the best live drummer I have ever seen though is someone I haven't seen one person mention... Rodney Holmes playing with Steve Kimock.... Mind boggling stuff... Thats just my humble opinion but I urge you to check him out if you're not familiar with him...

Believe it or not, the guy who used to play for Huey lewis of all people was really really great.

Bun E. Carlos

A local El Lay dude named Danny Frankel. Wow.

Bruce Gary. ONe of the most unreal, song oriented players who ever played the game.

"BEST" is strictly a matter of opinion. THERE IS NO "BEST" As far as personal opinion......my most respected percussion performances (drum set perfomances) I've witnessed, hands down.....bzzzzzzzzzzz.........a tie...............Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl...........and that's strictly live and in the flesh. As far as "seen" be it live video, DVD, VHS, BROADCAST PERFORMANCE, etc.....the list is too long to even TRY listing.........

Hey Loop, if you ever get the chance to see Dave play, he's very approachable afterwards. He signs autographs, takes questions one on one, and is a very friendly guy! Not only one of the best drummers in history, but a very down to earth person! If you get the chance, take it!
