yeah, I do backing vocals in my band, not that much, but i find it's really good for your coördination to keep your head and hands so separate.

as for mic set-ups..I use a boomstand, as far as possible to my left, with the arm horizontal towards my mouth, just so close it doesn't get in my way.. I kinda like to swing my head around when playing loud music:D

I *sang* Vampira by Devin Townsend with my band because my guitarists are shy. My voice isn't great by any stretch but the part was easy enough.

*I can't sing; it's more like vocals with slight pitch variations.

At any rate, I think singing while drumming in very fun.

We hung the mic from pipes on the ceiling. It worked extremely well.

started off singing backing vocals progressing to lead on some songs although i think it pisses the lead/guitar singers off specially when an invisible voice (head obscured by my 16"Acustom crash) appears in the middle of the set !,enjoy the singing though and think i'm at a stage where it dos'nt affect my timing .

I can sing or backup while playing drums. But, I prefer to just play drums. That way I can concentrate on my rythm..

Morgan Rose's vocal parts are getting constantly lengthier, I wish to do backing vocals like him or even lead vocals one day.

I don't do any type of singing in my band due to the fact my singing voice is nothing better than a dying cat's meows. However when I was taking lessons my teacher devoted a good month or so to teaching me how to talk while playing so I could communicate with my other band members or him while jamming and trading fours. He would have me play and then ask me simply answered questions like, "How's the weather?" - "What kind of kit are you playing" etc. etc. then we moved on to full conversations eventually. It was neat and complicated at the same time. Props to all of you who can do it and do it well!

for about four years i took care of lead vocals and drums in my band. eventually we started writing more complex songs and i felt i couldn't live up to my potential as a drummer while still splitting my focus between drums and vocals. i still do a lot of backup singing and harmonies (usually the higher parts).
Beat on.
