This is my set up.. I use these sizes because I find it gives every sound

14" K CUSTOM FAST CRASH
very short decay and the one I have is darker.. makes a nice accent
16" K CUSTOM FAST CRASH
my main crash its perfect amount of decay and sound.. i love it
18" K CUSTOM FAST CRASH
Also darker then the normal ones that size has a nicer longer decay that I use at times for a gong like accent with mallets
16" A CUSTOM FAST CRASH
In the back of my set up .. very very bright and has a shorter decay then my other one.. i like that size/cymbal
14" A CUSTOM FAST CRASH
brightest cymbal I own.. love the size super fast decay
18" A CUSTOM FAST CRASH
wow these cymbal stands out on my kit for its longer decay/sound.. I use this size for bigger beats
14" K MASTERSOUND HIHATS
Fuller sounding grooves with this one
13" K HIHATS
quicker sounding with this one
20" K CUSTOM MEDIUM RIDE
my main ride.. its vintage and i love it to death.. 20 inch rides are my favorite
20" A CUSTOM PING RIDE
do to this cymbals place ment i couldnt have anything bigger then 20 inchs so that is what i stuck with
19" K CUSTOM DARK CHINA (I think its in storage) i like the fuller sound of a 19 inch china
10" K CUSTOM DARK SPLASH
dark nice decay.. great accent
12" A CUSTOM SPLASH
bright medium decay
18" K CUSTOM CRASH/RIDE
Guess i felt it would stand out more in 18 over 20..

sorry i posted cymbal list but i was to lazy to right out deferently

I've only ever had 16" crashes. I had an AAX Stage Crash (now cracked) but I still use it once in a while. I currently use a 16" AA Sound Control Crash because I played one in a studio once and liked it. I'm scared of crashes bigger than that but I'm also very curious at the same time.

I like bigger sized crashes, they take more to move, I hated it when my 16" used to flop all over the place like a dying fish. Hihats however, I like smaller, for the opposite reason that i like my crashes bigger.

Ride, doesnt matter too much, it depends more on the weight.

I play Zildjian A's and Z's. As far as my crashes I use a 16" A, a 16" Z custom, and a 18" Z custom. I am getting ready to replace the 18" though because it is just so freaking loud. I also like a tight response from my cymbals. I found that the smaller 14" and 15" crashes give me the sound that fits me. Experiment!!!

well i have 4 crashes and i perticularly love larger heavyer cymbals simply cuz of my style,i play alot of grindcore/hardcore and i need the extra blast,i play a byzance 16" 18" 19"and 20" crash from meinl and a 24" mb20 ride and they are so full of sound it almost makes the room seem more cramped wen i play them haha, then i use a 14" mb10 soundedge highhat from meinl as well, full of tone and really defined "chik" wen played closed

I have 16" and 18" Zildjian K custom fast crashes because I like the big sound without the sustain. I like to be tight and controlled but also love the volume for the big chorus. I use 20" K custom ride and 13" K custom Hats

To me the size is a determining factor as much as the sound. My 18" K Dark THin is a very musicial cymbal but I won't use it in most high volume situations; It just doesn't fit that application where as my 17" Medium Thin Crash does along with aN A Zildjian Thin Crash. I do use the K Zildjians on the soul band gigs where there is concert sound; They fit very well!

I like smaller hi-hats (13"), big crashes (18, 19 and 20") and big rides (21-22"). I like my chinas to be both small and large, right now I own a 12",14", and two 18 inch models [not all set up at the same time]. I own a 10" splash right now, but I'm more of an 8" fan.
