I find when your tuning, striking the drums with a mallet helps control the sound better. i tune low and both heads the same. snare really tight.

I use Dave Weckls method- low, both batter and bottom the same:) I think it gives the best results.
And of course no muffling exept for the kick(if I'm using a kick larger than 16").


Me too. However I sometimes tune the snare with a loose batter and the reso an octave higher.

Which pitches do you tune to? Both heads the same?
