I'm aquiring some older Zildjian As from someone on the cheap (cheap enough I can't pass it up) but the only problem is either he or the previous owner had put tape on the undersides of the cymbals (gaah!) and now there is the adhesive gunk still there...can I get a consensus on what would be a good way to remove that without totally discoloring or damaging the finish?

My personal method is a hammer.

JUST KIDDING!!

Seriously, I would recommend Zims or GrooveJuice. They are really good cymbal cleaners, and should take that gunk right off. Just clean it in a well-ventilated area, and wear gloves. Both of these products are weak acid, but can irritate your hands.

It should. You may have to soak them for longer than what the bottle's instructions are, but it should work.
