high end cymbals are individually molded as opposed to cheaper cymbals which are cut from the same sheet of metal. therefore if you took 3 or 4 of the exact same make, model, and sizes of high end cymbal and played them all they would all sound different whatever the best cymbal is is the one thats right for YOU. my favorite zildjian is my 20 inch k dark ride given to me by a friend who passed away, i treasure it for many reasons however it also happens to my my favorite sounding and feeling ride out of 5 ride's that i have

Do yourself a favor if you're playing ZBT, ZXT or ZHT series, and go to the music store and crash an A Custom...its like a burst of brilliant sound, whereas those Z's are like trash can lids by comparison. Even many Avedis (A) series Zildjian's sound like trash can lids by comparison in my opinion.

I totally agree. I got ZBTs for free with my set and was never happy with them. Didn't know what I was missing until I tried the A Customs. WOW! I bought a full set-up of A Customs. The crashes are my favorite. Now, I'm starting to get tired of the high-hats and want something a little more crisp...I'm thinking about going paiste.

The "best cymbal" is definitely subjective, but I wonder why people on here aren't at least giving their opinion on this thread.

I've found over the years it depends completely upon opinion and style of music.
Sometimes ive found when playing metal Paiste Rudes or Large A custom projections have suited really well, however have been too heavy and too loud for other styles of music where I have used fast decaying or more washy cymbals such as some of the K series. Anyone agree?

You can say best sounding dark crash cymbal or best sounding medium ride because there are a lot of different crashes or rides etc and you can't compare them....Personaly i like the A Customs

There is no "best" cymbal because it is true that some people can make the worste cymbal sound great. :)

it might just be the light. most of the ones I've seen have very visible hammer marks. looks really nice tho.

most of the ones I've seen look more like this gem I found on ebay:

tiny bit of keyholing, but I'd still buy it if I were in the market.

edit: if anybody's looking to buy an old k, the auction on this one has a day left, and it's at 700 bux so far. here's the link:
