heard a sample of it? Or was it a live recording, like a video? Most likely the sample has been eq'd but I have heard a lot of great things about that snare. I would test it out first!

I bet it was eq'd but it still sounded great. Yeah i'd like to test it out but im not sure if the local shops have it in stock, and no other drummer i know in my area has one.

yea I have wanted to check one out as well but I am in the same boat, sometimes you can get the guitar center drum manager to have one sent in and then they will keep it out on the floor until it sells

I don't have the mapex but I do have a 14x6.5 Yamaha brass and I would not recommend brass unless you like a bit of ring. Don't get me wrong brass is great and I love the sound, but try and get it to sound dry and it just sounds lame to me.

Hm, thats interesting. Having only heard/never played, I always wanted one, but I like a dry snare. Wish I could fuss around with one for a bit.
