Try a pearl maple soprano snare. I've been reading reviews about that thing and it definately sounds worth buying, especially in your situation

mike manginis sig pearl snare is like 10 by 8 i think, that seems pretty small to me.

I thought the Mangini Snare Drum was 10 x 6.2 ??
The depth is something to do with the Mangini Code or something along those lines
