at my local guitar center, chad smith's snare is like 279 dollars :( and im poor. but when i get there, is it worth that much money?

heard TONS of mentions of something called, um, acrolite? please tell me what it is.

a must have for every drummers arsenal
drums - pacific LX
cymbals - saluda black mist, voodoo
pedals - axis, iron cobra
gear - DW, rock n' sock

i searched "ludwig acrolite snare drum" in musical instruments, and saw some for 50 and others for 250. whats the deal?

some are blue and olive labels
some are black and white (i believe)
some are vintage some aren't
some are black galaxy some aren't ect ect

all you need to look for is a regular cheapish acrolite
they were "mistakes" and turned out to be amazing

zen posted an great post on this somewhere. Basically they are cheap, common, great and on top of all that versatile. They may not do every style the absolute best, (for instance there may be a better HM snare) but they will do any style well.
