Re-laquer?

Hey guys,

I have a couple of questions to ask.

I have a Tama Rockstar Custom that I purchased about 4 to 5 years ago. Of course, Tama decided to discontinue the model. I really love the set and if they were still making them, I would have probably purchased another by now.

Over the past 4 years, the set has accrued many scratches. Many of them are just surface and of course others are much deeper. I was wondering if it was feasible or worth relaquering the set. I know that the scratches that are somewhat deeper cannot be fixed.. I just wanted to get rid of some of the minimal scratches. Of courrse, I have used polishers and that got rid of some.

My second question is that about a couple of years, I was thinking of rewrapping or restaining the set. In the process of taking the port holes off the 11 inch tom was slightly splintered from where the port hole starts to about less then half of an inch from the hole on the inside of the shell. After making such a stupid mistake, I decided that I was not knowledible enough or technologically advance to do such a feat. The tiny splinter has not effected the drum sound. However, it is somewhat of a eye sore and is worrisome. Would it be worth it to sand that tiny area?
