The webpage description says poplar so I would go with that.

well my Pearl Forum is poplar and it's bottom of the chain on the series
how come they're right under the platinum series?

From what I've read in musician friend, there's 2 kind of X7, one is using poplar and the other is hybrid hardwood, not sure of what it is...

I picked up a new DW catalog on a CD at Best Buy and it says that now all PDPX7 sets are now produced in maple. They have started a couple of new lines too as well.

I understand, it's like buying a Harley sportster the year BEFORE they had rubber mounting and a lot of other features. But...that's what they have done. If I had purchased a poplar X7 I would be upset.

That sounds like a fair trade to me. I don't know if they would do it But, I might give it a try, the worse thing they could do is say no and make a counter offer.

its poplar...and i got my FS when pacific 1st started its branch off drum workshop...i still love it!! ;P
