I started out on a blue sparkle 63 Ludwig 5 piece with 2 13" rack toms. I wish I still had that set today. I sold it in 1976!

Ludwig's are awesome. You said you have a mutt kit now, so not sure what your budget is for this set. If you don't have one, I'd say go Classic Maple all the way.

Accent CS is a good line to start. Skip the accent combo's, that's what I have and I wish I paid the extra $100 or so for the CS line. One of my floor toms is an Accent CS and it's really good with G2 batter and G1 reso.

Has anyone played on the Accent CS Custom Elites? With the birch shells? There is a guy selling his almost brand new one for waayy under the list price, anyone like em or dislike em??
