Carter Beauford of Dave Matthews Band

Postby eml » Thu Aug 28, 2008 5:08 am

Let's talk about Carter, I'm obsessed by his playing but I don't know much about him.

I like him a lot more live than on their albums though, he's at his best when he's playing live with his bad imo, and the solos he do are groovy, I don't like his cymbal crossover though, kind of cheap to me.

Let's hear it!

Why's that? They have some weaker songs but a lot of them are incredible. I love how they don't use an electrical guitar too, just so soft to listen to but the up-tempo songs make you want to stomp to 'em. Oh well everyone has their opinion, I for example can't stand any music that contains blast beats. :)

the only thing I hate about the Dave Matthews Band is...Dave Matthews. The second he starts to sing I wanna stick icepicks through my eyeballs to take my mind off it.

Carter is a great player.

Pretty much what Alan said. I can't stand Dave Matthews.. I respect them all as musicians, but it's just not my type of music.

I actually like DMB, and I totally dig Carter. What did you mean exactly by cymbal cross-over?

Check out his you tube vids, he does some over head cross over work on his crashes, etc....

Carter is a bad ass for sure. The cross-over stuff is also used by Dennis Chambers a good bit. P.O.Y!

he talks about how dennis chambers was a huge influence on him in his video. i finally got past matthews' voice and became a fan. he's actually a really good songwriter and guitar player. but carter makes that band. definitely one of my favorite drummers.

Beauford is great, and is the main reason I decided that DMB was worth getting used to.
