I say go with the 9000's, it's a superior level pedal , on a much more affordable level than the others, and I honestly can't see you "outgrowing " that pedal anytime soon....work up to the others for when you have $800.00 to drop on a set of pedals.

My 5002 just clonked out on me yesterday after 15 years. It has been around the world 2 times and put through a lot of punishment and this is the first real problem I have with it. I may simply need to replace some minor parts that I can order through DW:

(It's possible that the pedal got damaged while in my hardware bag after my last gig and not due to wear & tear from playing)

If this is the level of reliability I'll get from a $500 pedal as opposed to an $800 pedal, I personally don't see a problem. Should it turn out that I need to replace the entire pedal, I'm not going to hesitate much and will get another 5002, maybe even a 9002. I've also had only good experiences when dealing with DW... they even sent me certain cheaper replacement parts for free when my pedal was no longer under warranty. I find DW's drums are over-rated and over-priced (Taye & Mapex make great drums for half the $$ or even less), but I don't feel the same when it comes to their pedals...

Oh and I'm switching to axis very soon. I got some extra money by selling my old sonor kit.
