Anyone own/use these? I tried some at Dales Drum Shop with a bass drum that had onyx batter and reso and it was the lowest, loudest, boomiest bass drum I've ever heard. I was only allowed to tap thw tom heads with my fingers so I didn't get a good sound from them. All help is appreciated.

I do!

I have them on my toms and snare. They are incredible heads. They aren't so dead or "dry" sounding like you get were certain coated heads. Now they are a coated head, not like the Ebony series that Remo has. They are basically, coated black heads...similar but not in sound to the Remo Black Suede. They have excellent attack, quick decay (but not too quick actually), warm tones, and are surprisingly a cinch to tune. Any other questions, I'd be happy to help!

I tried them and didn't think they sounded too bad, but I've heard and played better. Maybe the reason I wasn't jumping up and down is because they were installed on a Pearl Reference kit and I really never cared for their sound. I generally like the open, resonant sound of clear heads. On most of my kits I have the G2 clear over G1 clear combo. My Pearl kit has the G2 coated over G1 clears. The other thing about the Onyx, I'm not too keen on black batter heads.

Just my experience,

Can't wait til I get mine in a few days, my standard pack I bought with free 14" snare head! It's on sale right now on MF and Music123. Yeah they are basically black versions of coated heads, def durable, dark, controlled warm.

Well I actually went out and bought a pack of coated G2's today so I won't need heads again for a while. I feel like a moron though, I needed a new reso head for my 12" and accidentally bought a coated G1 instead of a clear
