And I'm excited :D

But I know nothing about them.

I want some that sound good for jazz cause I'm gonna join my local colleges jazz band but I also want some to sound good for alternative type music.

I have a Tama superstar accel driver(birch). 10,12,16 toms. 14 snare and 22 bass. I probably won't use that 12 tom cause I want to use a 4 piece only or vice versa with the 12.

Any suggestions?

Are the Reno powerstroke 3 any good?

The Powerstroke 3 is good, but the Powerstroke 4 is also very good. Head selection is always a tough thing to get a handle on at first, but really you can always go to Remo's website, Evans' website, any head companies site, or your local drum shop. Those should be able to give you at least a starting point and information in regards to what heads you could use. I'm not going to say SHOULD because I believe there really isn't a certain head for a certain type of music, unless you're talking about like the Remo Fiberskin stuff. But yeah. Check out their sites, they have charts that let you know what type of sound you're going to get out of the heads. It's all about your preference my friend.

Just a quick tid bit or opinion if you will. I'd probably go with a coated bass drum head for your jazz stuff, it will still give you a good punch for your alternative music. But again, it's all preference.
