i have a shitty basswood pulse kit. im not in the market for new drums but i am getting new heads. for the toms i thinking of pinstripe batters and ambassador resos. i play heavier music if that makes a difference. for the kick i was thinking emad 2 and a ebony ported reso. i do play double kick alot. do any of you use diff combinations of heads on diff size drums. for instance coated on floors and clear on racks or something of the like?
bash, bang, slam, whatever, yeah, ima drummer.

Don't get pinstripes man, they're just not good heads. They kill too much sound. Get emperor/ambassador combos for toms. Your kit selection sounds pretty good though

nope.

if you're looking for something with built-in muffling, check out Aquarian's Superkick line of bass drum heads.

I have the magical pearl mounts that stick a giant metal tube right through the drum. Trust me, I've tuned them up off the mounts and they're great. I've spent hours trying to tune them on the mounts and I can't get any sustain, which is what I want

I'm getting an X7 for my next kit, they have off shell mounts so I'm happy
