How do temperature variations affect drum heads? I had some evens ec2 on my toms. 4 mounths old. and after a long harsh winter they sound like crap. The drum set was in a room with no heating except when we were there. And can these temperature changes affect drum shels as well?

you hit the nail on the head with temperature changes. it's not so much low or high temperatures that will affect things, but quickly changing temperatures can have negative effects.

well....not quick changes. but let's say....-20 C during the night. And that means that the heads were extremely used. :D

well, let's say that the drums are in a room that is -20C at night, and then you turn the heat on...temperature can potentially rise pretty quickly.
