Tonight at band practice I spent some time tuning my snare drums and I need a new head for my Ludwig Acrolite (newer black galaxy version). It currently has an Evans Genera HD Dry on it and now that I have some other snares to compare it to it really does sound way too choked. I have a 12x6.5" that I just received on Friday with a Remo Suede Emporer that's got a nasty crack to it that I love and a 13x7"Ddrum with an Aquarian Hi-Energy on it that I like the sound of. With the Acrolite I've had a aquarian carmine appice sig snare head which was a clear head with a thick power dot, it was pretty open but alright, then I went to the Hi-energy but when playing a miced gig, nothing but ring came through the PA and it really didn't sound that great behind the kit either. What would you guys recommend?

Also FYI it does have an Evans Hazy 300 for a reso.

Tuning. :)

My Acro has an Aquarian Texture Coated batter head, which is Remo Ambassador weight, and a Hi-Performance snare side head. I have one MoonGel right next to the bearing edge and about 1:30. It sounds great on recordings. :)
