I'm going to have to disagree here. Looking at this drom purely an phisiological proscpective here, using weights to work out your calves are mostly going to work the slow-twich muscle fibers, which are the fibers used for high resistance and low speed. Fast-twich fibers (high speed and low resistance) are where the finesse comes from. Doing calve exercizes aren't going to worsen your foot chops, but don't expect to get better just by doing calve raises every day.
