identify this kit!

Postby iatemygoat » Tue Oct 30, 2007 6:34 pm

my friend told me about a drumset he got through his work. he picks up peoples "junk." so this drumset came with a vintage acrolite snare that he dated back to the 60's.

what we dont know is what the actual shells are. no markings or logos. the bass drum is painted silver on the inside though. and apparently what he thought was a 10 inch deep floor tom was actually a snare turned into a tom.

hopefully i can get pics from him in the next couple days. but if you can identify that kits company at least from the description that would be great

I agree. Gretsch simply tacked on their badge with a single tack back then or simply didn't put a badge on at all, so it's a longshot, but the badge MAY have been removed or fallen off. My first instinct though from the description is that of 60's knockoff Japanese firewood drums. I had one of those sets in blue satin flame and rail tom mount and they were indeed junk.

If that acrolite is a pre serial number keystone badge it could be worth big bucks, if its a serial number keystone, that makes it pre 69. and could be worth as much as 250.00
