HD-1´s

Postby -Dr.DW- » Thu Aug 16, 2007 7:59 am

Hi all!
I work @ music store, and we have Roland´s HD-1 set in stock. Price for it is 780€. I´ve played it for a few hours and i dig it! Pedals are made to last and all pads seems to be very appropriate. It has 10 different "kits" and in one kit HH pedal to works as a BD! About sound´s, the normal drum kit sounds VERY authentic, i´m suprised! All pads inc. pedals are touch sensitive! Of course this is just a practice kit, and dosen´t come off very good as a primary set=/ One con there is.. you can´t attach for example. KD-8 BD pad onto it, cause the module dosen´t sadly work with it. Otherwise it´s a bargain!

Welcome to the forum, Dr. :D
I'm just curious if the cymbals can be choked like the other Roland offerings.
Do tell. XD
I'm considering one for practice.
Don't want my neighbors killing me.

HD-1´s

Postby -Dr.DW- » Fri Aug 17, 2007 9:08 am

Hi! Thanks for welcoming!
Sadly the answer is no, they can´t be choked=S But fortunately the set is quiet and i guarantee that your neighbours won´t bother you! (if you don´t have liturally paper walls=P)

Oho, oho.
Ah well.
I have space constraints, which is why I want this kit.
Still. I need a kit to practice on, so perhaps I'll get one...
Thanks, Dr.

Dr DW knows a lot more than I do about this little set and about drums in general. I'm still a beginner. However, I've had my little HD-1 for a few days and it's a blast! The petals are very quiet and the loudest noise comes from hitting the cymbals (esp the bell), but it is still pretty quiet and I don't think my neighbors can hear a thing.

When I try to do the double bass thing, the set shakes a little, but no big deal. One qualm I have about this set is the bass pedal's lack of sensitivity--or maybe I don't have the right touch yet. It's difficult to do quick notes in succession, as one of the notes won't be registered (for example, playing 16th notes, on the AH and on the downbeat). Anyone have any suggestions? I do have the set programmed on the most sensitive setting.

All in all, it's a great practice set, and I especially love being able to hear my playing along with a CD, DVD, or MP3 in my headphones. I got the personal drum monitor that was made to go with this set, and it's nice to have too.

Peace Out!

Experiment with the various settings.
Maybe the most sensitive is too sensitive?
Glad to hear you like it.
I want to give it a try somewhere before buying it, though.

Definitely a good idea to try it out first. We have a Sam Ash store in this area where they have one set up and I've seen guys trying it out.

I don't know about the sensitivity settings. I was using the default setting and it wasn't sensitive enough. I'm not a real hard hitter anyway, so I like it on the highest.

Thanks for your input!

Yesyes.
Thing is, I'm yet to see any music stores where they've got them set up.
I'll wait and see.
Thanks again, Alex.
