so starting school again, i realize that i need to start thinking about my future and all (but in all honestly, its my belief that the world isnt going to be around much longer, due to Jesus coming back and all, oh and dont disagree about that, its not the point of the topic)

so im thinking i want to do something in music, maybe hmmmm.... drums?

i know that im not nearly prepared to start now, but do music schools actually teach drums, or is it for people already experienced, and just to further their knowledge in music?

yeah, you can take percussion at just about any school that offers a music curriculum. I was a percussion performance/music comp double major at UT way back when, then did a year of electronic music and percussion lessons also.

I do have to say: I didn't take but a couple lessons on drumset my entire time at UT. I was busy learning classical percussion, a little tabla too. I do feel like it impacted my playing in a positive way tho. the composition element of my studies definitely got me into thinking of my playing as part of a larger reality that they needed to complement, and that right there was worth its weight in gold.

I have also been thinking about this..what careers are there out there for us if we don't "make it" and have a major in percussion and music theory/comp/etc.

where i live Belmont University is known nationally for their music.
they actually do teach and further your learning
it is pretty damn expensive...about $22,000 a year.
but all in all its an amazing school, i plan on attending next year with a major in pre med and a minor in music :)

my opinion: i dont know if something is gonna happend, no one knows, only God knows when something is gonna happend like that.
Just cause the mayans said it doesn't mean they are right. Only God can decide when to come. Thats why he says be ready, u never know when he wants to come.

yea you got me there
Goodyear discovered rubber a little over 100 years and archaeologists found out that Mayans played the "basketball" game, using a ball made out of rubber extracted from a tree bark.
also they had there own underground sewers and irrigation system.
and the pyramids have 91 steps on each side and adding all those steps including that last step on the top, that equals to 365 steps, equivalent to 365 days in a year.
and also theres a day when the sun strikes the pyramid of the sun and crates this shadow of a serpent, which is said that its there ultimate god.
just a few examples :D

Quite interesting, is the 2012 thing about the end of the world theory cuz the earth's gravity is gonna switch round or something?

well the thing is i dont think the world is going to "end" at 2012. i look at it more like a "change" or alternate outcome.
but then again there has been alot of dates and stuff about the world coming to an end
6/6/06 or like the Y2K thing on new years on 2000

Haha! :D

In all seriousness the Mayans were smart people though, their mathematical and astronomical research is stunning. I often think about what they could have accomplished if their history would be different from what it turned out to be.

smart enough to hide from the rest of us barbarians? MAYBE THEY GOTZ THE CLOAKING SHIELD.

seriously tho, that's like asking that of the Romans. look at what happened to europe after rome fell. there's still mayans living in that jungle, they just abandoned the cities. I'm sure something catastrophic was involved.

I don't know much about the end of the planet, beside the fact that I'll die when I die, till then I'll drum. I had a lady tell me the Mayans all turned into to energy, and she's done a lot of drugs, so she must be right.

One thing I do know is that all those little repeating image things are real annoying when a bunch of posts in a row all have them.
