don't waste your lips on words i've heard before
kiss my tired head.
and each letter written wastes your hand, young man
come and lead me to your bed
you gave me hope that i'd not lost her
and then thought it rather strange to see me smile
as i don't do too much smiling these days

she put on happiness like a loose dress
over pain i'll never know
"so the peace you had," she says,
"i must confess, i'm glad to see it go."
we're two white roses lying frozen just outside his door
i've made you so happy and so sad,
but which should i be more sorry for?

come kiss my face goodbye,
that space below my eye and above my cheek
cause i'm faint and fading fast, i see a darkness
and i shall be released.
i'll pass like a fever from this body,
and softly slip into his hands
i tried to love you and i failed,
but i have another plan.

my lord, how long to sing this song?
and my lord, how muchmore of this pretending to be strong?
when she stands before your throne
dressed in beauty not her own
all soft and small, you'll hear her call
"you brought me here, now take me home."

When we were going out on a mission in Iraq I needed something angry to set the tone so I listened to Slipknot's Iowa and Slayer's Reign in Blood. Those CD's really got me good and angry but not so much where it took over, I needed to stay sharp and focused to go out and destroy something or someone.

I was more thinking about the war issue.

I saw slayer this summer btw. I didn't like it at all. They do war ensemble and then tell people to not hurt each other in the audience. It's obvious that they don't want people dying when they play, but c'mon... War? It's so badass. Everyone should kill each other but not during a metal show, that's to extreme.

I don't know if Slayer are pro-war, but I dislike their image. But that's just me! I like people who like Slayer :D

still you do have to admit it makes a better soundtrack for blowing up things that, say, lisa loeb.

slayer has said that they're more about trying to depict a certain mindset with songs like war ensemble and angel of death, not so much glorifying as simply commenting.

Google the lyrics, and read into the song or into all of their songs for that matter....a misinformed viewing can lead to misinterpretation...things are not always as they seem. ( a lesson recently revisited)
and if you have never been in the center and commanded the power inside of a Slayer pit then I wouldn't possibly expect you to truly understand the experience or the meaning of "Hey man let's look out for each other and make sure no one gets hurt" It's a brutal but lovely thing the slayer pit is truly unique compared to others...except for maybe Pantera back in the day. I am sure Alan knows what I am talking about.
But again to each his/her own ...if it doesn't appeal to you, I can totally understand ...I mean hell....I don't like country...but I like people who do,LOL.

There's nothing like an old school circle at a Slayer concert. So much different than a bunch of people randomly running around and trying to hurt each other.
