being that china's population is 1.3 billion its a lot more than a dollar a person, the ".3" in china's population is the total population of the united states.

HAHA thats hilarious!
I love all the stuff thats comming out now. Like some of the fireworks was actually CGI.
And that little girl that sung that song was actually miming. The girl that really sung the song got replaced because she wasn't attractive enough....Quote "The reason was for the national interest. The child on camera should be flawless in image, internal feelings, and expression"

What a superficial world we live in.

You have to understand the culture. Chinese culture, and many other Asian cultures, are all about saving face. Even European cultures are young compared to China. Plus, there's that whole Communism thing.

I think it's a little cheap, but it doesn't mar anything for me. I still think those were the best opening ceremony I've seen. Our own country wouldn't have put a less-than-attractive child up there to sing either. Nope, they'd find the best looking child possible and worrying about the singing afterwards. At least China used a live singer instead of a recording for the lip syncing. I'll equate it with N'Sync. I worked one of their shows at the Oakland Coliseum back in '00 and even though they lip synced the entire show it's still the best visual show I've ever seen...and I've worked a lot of concerts.

Yeah, that's the infamous screen you get when Windows crashes.
