After about a year of being in a band and having countless members drift in and out without really contributing anything, me and my friend who work together on almost everything musically decided we were just gonna do a kind of Satyricon deal (2 members writing everything and hopefully finding people to play it live). Just, ya know, without the whole black metal element.

we are both multi-instrumentalists, so we contribute on all fronts for each song. The first song, Pascal's Wager, is my friend on guitar and me on drums. The second song, Miasma, is all me.

Awesome dude, awesome. You made a good transition from the metal were used to from you. You are a good, diverse drummer. Good writing skills as well from both of you. Would sound great with Bruce Dickinson-ish vocals.

Thanks! I guess I haven't really made it known that I've been working on different styles lately. But, I have. lol. Thanks for the compliment, diverse is one of the biggest compliments I can get (in my opinion). He's much better at guitar than me (obviously, he's been playing 4 years, I've been playing 7 months.) I'm not sure about the Bruce Dickinson-ish vocals though, I imagine something much mellower. The songs are also gonna be layered with more guitar tracks and keyboards as well.

Well then, not Bruce Dickinson. And be sure to update us when you layer your songs. Where'd the band name come from?

Ok I'll definately let you know. I hadn't quite figured out how to use my new recorder when we did that or we'd have multitracked instead of doing a live recording.

And to clarify something my friend brought to my attention, I hadn't ever heard Pascal's Wager until literally an hour before we recorded. So the drums were written that day. They're gonna get a little more complex and have some fills in them.

And the band name.... It's a very long, hysterical story. At lunch at school, someone brought up how I wanted to be killed when I turn 60 so I don't get old. And my friend Matt said "or you could just disappear into the water, never to be seen again" and I played off that and said "except in legend, as Mike The Merman" and my friend has plans to start an empire. So long story short, he appointed me god of the ocean in his empire. And I told that story to the other guy in my band, and he said he liked the name "King Of The Ocean" but only if it was worded differently. So, using my mad Latin skills, I translated it into Latin!

Would have been cool with some Chris Cornell vocals.

I live in one town. The guitarist lives in another town 40 minutes to an hour away. He recruited another guitarist and a bassist who all live really close to him. They're all 17 and don't even have their permits. I'm 15 so I can't even get one. So basically, there is no way they could have all gotten to my house to practice, so they all would have been writing stuff, and I would essentially be doing nothing. So I had no choice to quit. I've been working with that guitarist for over 2 years, this is the first time we actually haven't been in a band together since I met him. It was a mutual agreement that it would be beneficial to them if I just left. So they alrwady found a new drummer, so if you want to keep up with them, they'll at least be putting out music. It sucks, all 3 of them are my friends....
