I've got a 3,000 square foot building/practice space in Rochester NY with a small cheap motel across the road... Lets pick the date (in the summer) and we'll have us a drummers weekend!

Oh... I'm serious by the way...[/quote]

I'm in South Central NY....I'd drive up to Rochester.... :D

zen_drummer wrote:Ok, so it looks like we're gonna have the first annual DML drummers weekend... we need to get settled on a date.

ALSO, We need to plan some events to make this exciting/interesting!

Ideas I have for the events are as follows:

Drummers Swap Meet: Bring the stuff you no longer use and sell/trade it to other members for stuff/cash you need!
Snare Drum Olympics: Bring your best sounding snare drum and compete against others for fun and prizes!
Tour of the House of Guitars Drum Department: Just 20 minutes from the event location is the legendary House of Guitars... The WORLDS LARGEST SINGLE LOCATION MUSIC STORE. SIX FLOORS of music gear including Two areas dedicated to drums. They often have 50 or more kits on display (sometimes they don't) but this place is like a giant toy store for musicians WITHOUT the corporate BS that you find at GS, SA and the other big chains. The House of Guitars will be donating a substantial door prize for this event. World Famous Players always stop in at the H.O.G. when they are in the area.
Texas Hold'Em Tournament: Play against your fellow forum members for fun and prizes. I'm sure we can guilt the local Guitar Center Store into donating a prize of some description, if not, I'll come up with something.
Drum Solo Shootout: Let's face it, we HAVE to have a drum battle or something like that or there would be no point in doing this! The winner gets Bragging Rights and a dream date with Fiesty (ummm... maybe not...)

I'm going to hit TRICK up for some stuff... those of you with Saluda Connections should see if they want to come to the event and/or send a door prize! TimeKeep... Ya got anything you want to toss our way? Are you planning on coming?

Any other ideas are WELCOME! (and by all means, if any of my ideas aren't cutting it, just say so and we'll nix them.... )

Oh Sh&% this ACTUALLY took place???? looks like I have some reading to do.....

Yeah most of that is about the last one. For info on the next one go to www.drumroadtrip.com.
But do yourself a favor and read the progression of the last event, it really was cool how it came together!
Lotsa guys really pulled together!

That is still to be determined. It's gonna depend on attendance, etc. We will know more soon.

I really wish it was August already! Can't wait to see what the crew of BongZen & Dailey have in store for us this year. I do know that it's gonna be hard to top last years. I think the first is always the best.

I must say this is the best idea EVER! I'm just upset that I missed it in 08. Guess I'll just have to make an appearance in 09 =)
